JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County —

Being a military spouse normally means moving every few years, and moving so frequently can make it hard to find and keep work.

Because of this struggle, many military spouses create their own jobs and become entrepreneurs.

Dana Moltmaker, the wife of a Marine, uses her love for DIY projects to run her own successful business in Jacksonville.

She says her “do it yourself” projects include home decor and back to school signs, among other things.

Moltmaker says starting over in a new area every few years is not easy, but online orders help keep her business running.

She also hosts project nights at Port City Java in Jacksonville at least once a month for those who want to learn how to make their own crafts.

For more information on her designs and the next project night, visit her website.
